WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?

Josh Motta

I grew up in Dothan, AL in a Christian home and was raised by Godly Christian parents. I understood at an early age that I needed Jesus to save me from hell, but it wasn’t until the end of high school and early on in college that the Lord began to show me the seriousness of my sin and my self-righteous attitude. During my freshman year of college, I remember reading Eph. 2:8-9 which says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” The Lord showed me my need for his grace alone for salvation. I began learning what it looked like to follow Christ through mentors and friends who modeled the Christian life for me.

After graduating from Samford University, I lived and worked in Malaysia for 9 months. The following 2 years I worked as an admission counselor at Samford. During this time The Lord began to show me that full-time vocational ministry was the next step for me. I then received my M.Div. from Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY.

My wife, Sophie, and I have been married since Sept. 2015 and have 2 young children. I enjoy playing and watching basketball (Go Duke!), the mountains, hiking, the beach and anything else outdoors, music (DMB), reading, and almost any social gathering.
